Barça 5-2 Valdepeñas: First win in the bag
The Barça futsal team have won 5-2 against Valdepeñas in the opening playoff fixture at the Palau Blaugrana. It was a tough game but they got the business done in the end with goals from Pito, Matheus, Sergio González, Catela and André Coelho. So that's 1-0 in the series, which continues on Saturday, this time away from home at the Virgen de la Cabeza.
Spurred on by the Dracs supporters group and a banner reading 'Victory is in our heart. We'll win this', Barça took 8 minutes to open the scoring, and although the visitors managed to cancel that one out, a goal just after half-time set the blaugrana up nicely for the end game. Sergio González and Catela's goals established a 3-goal cushion, and as Valdepeñas surged forward in search of a miracle, André Coelho stroked the ball into the net to make it 5-1.
Both sides scored late goals that had no bearing on the final outcome. Barça have started the playoffs in a very confident and convincing looking manner indeed.
