The FC Barcelona goalkeepers are all... Aitor Egurrola!
All of Barça's football, handball, roller hockey and futsal goalkeepers have an important duty to serve with their respective teams, and they are all very aware of the absolutely fabulous contribution that has been made over the years by Aitor Egurrola. The roller hockey goalkeeper's jersey is being retired this coming Sunday at the Palau Blaugrana, immediately after the play-off match against PAS Alcoy (free entrance).
But before that, all the pro goalies at the club have come together to show their admiration for the man who has won more trophies than anyone else at FC Barcelona: 78 titles in 24 seasons.
Men's football keepers Marc-André ter Stegen and Iñaki Peña and their female peers Sandra Paños, Cata Coll and Gemma Font posed with Aitor Egurrola's name on their backs. They were joined by Barça Atlètic's Arnau Tenas and Nil Ruiz.
The other sports were represented by Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas and Emil Nielsen (handball), Dídac Plana and Miquel Feixas (futsal) and, naturally, Sergi Fernández and Carles Grau (roller hockey).
Sergi Fernández, who shared his position with Egurrola between 2010 and 2022 said "Egurrola was the best captain I've had and a beautiful person." Coach Edu Castro added that "Barça fans need to know that legends are rewarded the way he will be on the 14th".
After joining the club in 1995, Egurrola made his debut in 1998 and spent 24 seasons at the highest level, representing the Barça values to perfection and breaking the record for the most wins in the Liga (21), European Cup (11), Continental Cup (11) and Copa del Rey (12).
