Three exciting challenges other than the Liga title
Barça are the champions elect of La Liga. Barring an almost impossible series of events, the trophy will be heading its way to Catalonia, possibly as soon as the next match on May 14, or even before.
But first things first. The chickens look ready to lay, but the eggs have not been hatched, so for the time being the most important is to make absolutely sure of the trophy. There are five games to play, and Barça only have to win one of them. Even if they don't, either Atlético or Real Madrid would need to win every single one of their own games. Unlikely scenarios, maybe, but still possible.
But other than the Liga title, Barça are also on course to set all kinds of different Spanish and European defensive records, both in terms of the number of goals conceded (just 11 at the moment) and clean sheets (25). And there is more...
Ter Stegen heading for Zamora
The wall of Mönchengladach is closing in on history. With just 11 goals conceded in 33 games, not only is he on course to win the Zamora trophy, surprisingly for the first time, but he could so with the most impressive record ever.
The current record of 18 goals conceded in 38 games (a coefficient of 0.47 a game) is shared by Jan Oblak of Atlético Madrid in the 2015/16 season and Paco Liaño of Deportivo in 1993/94. As it stands, Ter Stegen's coefficient is a mind-blowing 0.33.
Lewandowski chasing Pichichi
The Polish striker is leading the way in the battle to become the top goalscorer in La Liga. He has scored 19 goals to date, two more than Karim Benzema of Real Madrid, and five more than Joselu (Espanyol) and Enes Ünal (Getafe).
Another pointer in Lewandowski's favour is the fact that should it end in a tie, penalties are not counted. The Barça man hasn't scored any penalties in the league, while Benzema has scored six.
Lamine Yamal's date with history
The teenage sensation, not yet 16 years of age, has already become the youngest debutant in Barça history. If the league title gets sewn up sooner rather than later, it only seems logical that Xavi Hernández will start giving his younger players more chances.
Lamine Yamal already came close to scoring in his few minutes on the pitch against Betis. Given further chances, there is every chance that he could get a goal, and become the very first player to score in La Liga before his sixteenth birthday. The current youngest scorer ever was Cameroonian Fabrice Olinga, who had just turned 16 when he scored for Malaga.
