Barça to face Zalgiris in Euroleague play off

Saras Jasikevicius' team will face the Lithuanians in the next phase of the competition

Barça will face Zalgiris Kaunas in the quarter finals of the Euroleague. Following the win over Valencia Basket on Friday, the blaugranes will face the Lithuanians in the play off best of five tie.

The first two games against the club where Barça boss Saras Jasikevicius enjoyed great success as a player and coach will be at the Palau Blaugrana on 26 April and 28 April with the third contest in Kaunas on 3 May. If a fourth game is needed it will be in Lithuania on 5 May with a possible fifth at the Palau on 9/10 May. 

If Barça do get through then they will return to Lithuania for the final four in Kaunas on 19-21 May, which would be the third appearance in a row with Saras in charge and the 17th overall. 

Opponents

Zalgiris Kaunas finished the regular season in the Euroleague in 7th place in the table and will be especially motivated to reach a Final Four to be played at their home court. In previous meetings this season against Barça the Lithuanians came out on top 73-72 at home before losing 93-74 in the Palau Blaugrana. 

The team coached by Kazys Maksvytis has a strong roster including Brazdeikis, former blaugrana Smits and Ulanovas as their main weapons on offense as well as the likes of Butkevicius, Taylor, Polonara, Dimsa, Birutis, Hayes and Lekavicius.
