FC Barcelona to face Real Madrid in Copa del Rey semi final
FC Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the semi finals of this season's Copa del Rey. The first leg will be at the Santiago Bernabéu on 1/2 March with the return leg at Spotify Camp Nou on 4/5/6 April. The final will be played on 6 May in the La Cartuja stadium in Seville.
The other semi final sees Osasuna to face Athletic Club with the two legs to played also on 1/2 March in El Sadar and 4/5/6 April in San Mamés.
Another meeting after the Super Cup
This season FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have already met on two occasions. The game in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu ended in a 3-1 win for the home side with Barça getting the better of their opponents by the same scoreline in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Past meetings in the Copa del Rey
The two giants of Spanish Football have met in 20 ties, 35 matches in total with the clubs coming out on top 10 times each.
At the semi-final stage Barça and Real Madrid have faced each other on seven occasions with Barça going through on three: in 1954, 1959 and most recently in the semi-finals in 2019.
On that occasion Barça sealed their place in the final under coach Ernesto Valverde with a 3-0 win in Bernabéu following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Camp Nou.
Reaction to draw
Barça Sporting Director Jordi Cruyff gave his thoughts on the draw, explaining that 2both sides know each other well so there will be few surprises2 whilst adding that playing the first leg at home '"gives you a feeling of control in the tie."
