FC Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid: Super Cup finalists!
Barça have beaten Real Madrid in the women's Clásico, the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, and will now face Real Sociedad for the title. They did after the teams were level after 90 minutes, and won their first game in extra time since 2019/20.
And they had to do it the hard way, with Irene Paredes receiving a second yellow after 60 minutes.
After 23 minutes of dominance, Claudia Pina finally gave Barça the lead with a simply splendid strike from the edge of the area. But despite having plenty of chances to go further ahead, Weir converted an excellent free kick ten minutes into the second half and Madrid's hopes were given a further boost by the red card.
Being a player down made life much harder for the Catalans, and they were unable to avoid a 30 minute extension of the proceedings.
Mariona Caldentey avoids penalties
Barça kept pressing in extra time, but just couldn't find the way through a solid Madrid defence. Penalties were looming with just ten minutes to go and neither side looking like scoring, but then Lucy Bronze was brought down in the area and Mariona Caldentey made ni mistake from the penalty spot.
Madrid threw everything forward in search of a way back, but without success and with practically the last kick of the game, Paralluelo put the game to bed by making it 3-1.
