Barça 32-24 Porto: Iberian Super Cup Champions!
Another trophy for the collection as the Barça handball team overcame Portuguese side Porto 32-24 in the final of the Iberian Super Cup. Carlos Ortega's team dominated the encounter from start to finish with a four goal advantage at the break that was stretched to eight at the end of the game. Dika Mem in attack and Pérez Vargas in goal were the stand out performers for the blaugranes.
Barça dominate
In the opening minutes both sides showed their effectiveness in defence. Martí Soler finally opened the scoring for the blaugranes in the 3rd minute of the game. The two teams exchanged goals with Porto keeper Frandsen keeping his side in the contest with a series of good saves. Another goal from Soler put Barça 10-7 ahead and then it was the turn of Barça keeper Pérez Vargas to shine as the blaugranes went in at half time 14-10 ahead with Janc top scorer on three goals.
Another title in the bag
In the second half Porto clawed their way back into the contest to make it 15-14 on 35 minutes. However, Dika Mem stepped up to lead a counter charge from the blaugranes to go 21-15 ahead on 42 minutes.
Once ahead Barça were no in mood to relinquish their lead and with Pérez Vargas in imperious mood, the blaugranes closed out the game to win 32-24 and add another trophy to their collection in the first ever edition of the Iberian Super Cup.
