Visit and football at the Aida Palestinian refugee camp in Bethlehem

The FC Barcelona Players Association's expedition also visited a hospital and a children's orphanage.

The men's team of the FC Barcelona Players Association has been in Palestine since Tuesday, November 1, on a trip that will culminate this Friday with a football match with the AOC of Bethlehem. During the first two days of the trip, the Blaugrana expedition participated in different social and institutional activities.

The team visited the Aida refugee camp on Wednesday, located north of Bethlehem and where 5,500 people live. The group of former Barça players learned about this facility created by the UN in 1950 and organized a football clinic with 50 boys and girls on a recently built football field.

Before that, the 27 members of the Association carried out other social activities, such as visiting the Hospital and Orphanage of the Holy Family, or Al Basma Special Rehabilitation, a center for people with disabilities where they are welcomed and employed and which is managed by the Women Arab Union, an organization that the expedition also visited.

The agenda for the trip to Palestine has also included institutional meetings so far. The president of the Association, Ramon Alfonseca, participated in a press conference at the city hall of Bethlehem, with the Mayor Hanna Hanania. The Association was also received at the headquarters of the local government, at a meeting, and vice-presidents Tente Sánchez and Félix Barrado also attended. The events were also combined with a visit to places of religious tradition, such as the Basilica of the Nativity or the Chapel of the Field of the Shepherds.
