Barça Atlètic 0–0 UE Cornellà: A point to get back on track
Barça Atlètic put an end to their run of defeats with a 0-0 draw at home against local rivals UE Cornellà in the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Rafa Márquez's team had plenty of possession and created chances but their rivals showed themselves to be a tough nut to crack with an impressive performance. .
Neither side takes control
Both sides looked to take the initiative in the early minutes with Barça's Juanda Fuentes going close early on. The visitors pressed Rafa Márquez's team high up the field and prevented Barça from bringing the ball out from the back as they would like.
Cornellà threatened from time to time in attack but it was Barça who came closest to opening the scoring, Álvaro Sanz hitting the post in the first half following a mistake in midfield from the visitors.
With the sides locked together at 0-0 at half time, the second half saw Barça raise the tempo. Nevertheless, Barça's patient approach did not pay off as they would have liked.
Despite enjoying more than 70% possession, the home side were unable to break the deadlock. Txus Alba came close, bringing a good save from Cornellà keeper Anacker towards the end of the second half.
Despite late efforts, Barça could not find a way through and had to satisfy themselves with a point to end a worrying run of negative results. .
