UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE: FC Barcelona 3-2 Bayern Munich
Barça are through to the last sixteen of the UEFA Youth League, thus avoiding the need for a play-off, after winning the the odd goal in five against Bayern Munich at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. And they achieved it despite conceding first.
Alarcón turns it around
Bayern only needed ten minutes for Lucas Copado to fire them into the lead, but two goals from Ángel Alarcón swung things the other before half-time. The first was a first-touch conversion of a Juanda cross from the left after 16 minutes, and the second, six minutes before the interval, came from a clever set play from a corner.
Bayern's fightback included one shot onto the woodwork, but it was Barça who were getting most of the chances. With three minutes remaining, Aleix Garrido leapt on a rebound to as good as settle the score. Arijon Ibrahimovic (no relation to Zlatan), did pull one back for the Bavarians in the fifth minute of injury time, but it was too late to worry the home fans at the Johan Cruyff.
