Dembélé, the king of assists
Everybody was talking about Ousmane Dembélé after the 4-0 defeat of Athletic Club. And rightly so. After all, it's not every day that a player scores one goal and sets up another three.
Involved in 11 goals
That hat-trick of assists means he has now provided the passes for seven goals this season. And with four goals too, that's 11 goals he has been involved in after 15 appearances in all competitions.
Top in La Liga
His five league assists move him to the top of the category, where he is followed by team-mate Robert Lewandowski, Rodrygo (Real Madrid) and Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad) with four each.
Third in Europe in 2022
In the current calendar year, Dembélé has amassed 18 assists, 16 in the league and two in Europe.
In the continent's five biggest leagues, only two players can boast more, namely Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) with 23 and former Barça man Leo Messi (PSG) with 20. On 14, we find another ex-Culer in Neymar Jr (PSG), plus Rafael Leao (Milan), Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid) and Mason Mount (Chelsea).
Hat-trick of assists
Dembélé became the first Barça player to give three assists and also score himself since Luis Suárez did so on 21 December 2019 against Alavés. Joao Felix (Atlético Madrid against Getafe) is the only other player to have given three assists in the same Liga game this season.
