Deadly renews contract with FC Barcelona until 2023
FC Barcelona and Matthew “Deadly” Smith have reached an agreement for the League of Legends star to continue on the team through to 2023. The British shooter will be representing the club in the Superliga LoL, Iberian Cup and other competitions.
He signed his extended contract today at the Spotify Camp Nou in the company of his coach Alejandro “Mapache” Parejo and Martín Toribio, the performance coach of the League of Legends team.
After coming second in the regular phase of this 2022 season and qualifying for the first European Masters, for forthcoming splits the project will be able to count on the ADC who topped the tournament MVP ranking.
Matthew told Barça Esports that “this is a big project that is aiming high in the national league. I'm very happy to be able to stay for another year to grow and get even further this season."
Alejandro “Mapache” Parejo, League of Legends team coach adds that “Deadly is a very valuable part of the team. He's a standout player and one who brings out the best in other players too. We are very fortunate to be able to count on his talent in the forthcoming competitions."
The Englishman's next appearance after extending his contract will be the Iberian Cup, which is coming up in October and can be viewed on the Professional Videogame League channels and on the official Barça Esports channels.
