Marcos Alonso 'hungry for success'
Marcos Alonso is officially here at FC Barcelona. The left back was joined by president Joan Laporta at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Tuesday where he said this "is what I have always wanted since my father brought me to the ground when I was a kid."
On what he feels he can offer the team, he mentioned "mostly experience and help for the younger players. It also depends on what the boss wants from me, but I can score a goal or two from free kicks."
"I am so happy to get the chance to be part of this team. It is very special because this is where my father was such a success ... I am very excited about it and hope to achieve lots of success for the fans."
The Alonso saga continues
Joan Laporta added that “Marcos Alonso is a very talented player, but he also offers certain circumstances of his own because he continues a family saga. His great grandfather Luis Zabala was also a full-back at, as was his father Marcos Alonso. It's very touching to have another Marcos Alonso."
Busy day
Marcos Alonso began Tuesday by joining the training session ahead of the game with Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, although he has not been named in the match squad.
He then returned to the Tito Vilanova field for the public signing of his new contract and to receive his membership card from the president.
He then performed the traditional series of ball tricks for the cameras and joined players from the Barça Academy for a training exercise.
