Juan Zambudio Velasco
Known in footballing terms by as Velasco (Jumilla, Múrcia, 1921 – Igualada, Barcelona, 2004), he was one of the best goalkeepers in Barça history
Velasco was a well loved goalkeeper who was consistent performer who shunned the spectacular. He was first choice between the posts from 1944 until a serious eye injury suffered in a game in Vigo in November 1949 put a halt to his progress and a young Ramallets took over in goal. Velasco regained the starting position only in his final season in 1953/54.
Nevertheless, even as second choice, he was a disciplined and loyal member of the squad. His tribute game took place at Les Corts in May of 1957.
