Raphinha makes a barnstorming start
A dream start for Raphinha in a Barça jersey. The winger from Porto Alegre has scored two goals, two assists, and earned two MOTM awards with FC Barcelona in just 108 minutes. Elite level numbers matched by the new signing's displays on the pitch.
Not only does he score goals and create assists, Raphinha seems to have taken to the team strategy like a duck to water. Providing the width that Xavi always wants from his wide players, the Brazilian has shown how dangerous he can be, constantly probing, taking people on one-on-one, and shooting with his powerful left foot. If you add his natural hardworking mindset in defence, it is clear to see how Raphinha has instantly managed to adapt across the two games played so far.
A striking debut
Raphinha had an amazing first 45 minutes for Barça. The Brazilian was involved in the three goals the team scored in the first half, an assist for Aubameyang to get the ball rolling, his debut goal after a good cross from Alejandro Balde, and an assist for Ansu Fati to round off a great 45 minutes.
Despite being replaced by Dembélé at half-time, Raphinha had already done enough to receive the MOTM after being considered the difference-maker in the game. Definitely a thrilling debut for the new Barça player.
Decisive in the Las Vegas Clásico
His latest test came in the most exciting game of this preseason. Raphinha played in his first Clásico in no less than the thrilling location of Las Vegas, and didn't he show his class.
The Brazilian proved decisive, scoring a superb strike from outside the area that evaded Thibaut Courtuois in the goal.
The Brazilian was replaced by Memphis after 63 minutes after scoring his second goal, receiving a standing ovation from the Barça fans. As such, Raphinha will go into the final two games in the USA tour against Juventus and New York Red Bulls full of confidence and preparing well for the start of the season.
