FC Barcelona sets off for the United States
The FC Barcelona squad have left for the United States! The players left El Prat airport at 4.30pm CEST on Saturday on a flight of around ten hours to Miami, Florida, the first of four stops they’ll be making in different parts of the country between now and the end of July.
The 28 players in the travelling party are being joined on the plane by club president Joan Laporta, vice-presidents Rafa Yuste, Elena Fort, Antonio Escudero and Juli Guiu, secretary Josep Cubells and board members Miquel Camps, Josep Ignasi Macià, Xavier Puig, Àngel Riudalbas, Joan Solé and Joan Soler.
Coach Xavi Hernández will not be taking today's flight for administrative reasons associated to his passport reasons. He is expected to join the rest of the squad in Miami in the next few days.
The first game is against Inter Miami (in Miami), and after that Barça will be taking on Real Madrid (in Las Vegas), Juventus (in Dallas) and the NY Red Bulls (in New York), before heading home on July 31 ready for the Gamper Trophy against Pumas of Mexico and the start of the 2022/23 season.
