Oscar Da Silva, versatile new signing
FC Barcelona and Oscar da Silva have reached an agreement whereby the German power forward/centre will play for the Catalan club for three seasons through to 30 June 2025. He comes to Barça after winning the league and cup double with Alba Berlin.
A physically strong player, da Silva is a powerful finisher but is also useful in defence excellent on the rebound and a wonderful reader of the game. And he has been improving with every year.
Great present and promising future
The son of a Brazilian boxer and a German mother, the 23-year-old was born in Munich and learned the game at DJK Sportbund München and MTSV Schwabing before going to the US to study biology and play for the Stanford Cardinal (2017-21), averaging 18.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in a spectacular final year.
He then returned to Germany, completing the 2020/21 season at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, excelling in 17 games with 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds, enough to attract the interest of Alba Berlin, with whom he signed a three-year contract.
EuroLeague debut
It was there that da Silva got his first European experience, averaging 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, in 41 domestic games, the man who speaks five languages, registered 11.3 points and 5.2 rebounds, making him the highest rated player in the championship winning team.
