FC Barcelona preseason decided
FC Barcelona’s complete preseason schedule has been confirmed, with six different games to get ready for the start of official competitions in August.
It all begins with a game on July 13 against fellow Catalans UE Olot of Second RFEF (the fourth tier of the Spanish football pyramid). The game will be played in the town that lies some 40km northwest of Girona.
Four games in the US
The players will then be heading across the Atlantic, where the US Tour begins in earnest on July 19 with the first ever meeting with the newly created Inter Miami side at their own ground in Florida, the DRV PNK Stadium. The club owned by David Beckham have recently begun competing in Major League Soccer.
After that, Barça are heading to Las Vegas for a high-profile game against Real Madrid on July 23. The Allegiant Stadium holds over 60,000 people and is sure to be packed for the second Clásico on US soil, following on from the one in Miami in 2017 that ended in a 3-2 win for the Catalans.
There’s another test on July 26 when the blaugrana expedition reaches Dallas, Texas, for a game with Italian side Juventus at the Cotton Bowl, which holds 92,000 people.
Barça close the American leg of the preseason on July 30 in New York, against another MLS club, this time the New York Red Bulls at the 25,000 capacity Red Bull Arena.
Gamper Trophy
Back at home, the final preseason game will be the Joan Gamper Trophy match versus AS Roma, who last season won the first ever edition of the UEFA Conference League. The event is returning to Camp Nou after it was held at the Estadi Johan Cruyff last year.
With those six games behind them, things then get more serious than ever, with Barça playing the opening Liga fixture. We will find out who they will be facing first when the draw is made on June 23.
