Dani Alves announces he is leaving FC Barcelona
Once a culer, always a culer. Dani Alves has announced he is leaving FC Barcelona via a post on his Instagram account. He thanked everyone for his experiences during his two stints representing the first team.
A Barcelona legend is leaving, with the Brazilian right back having spent the best part of nine seasons wearing the Barça jersey. 408 competitive games, representing the second most appearances for the Club by a player from abroad, with only Leo Messi having played more.
Alves: "I've written a big book of golden stories"
He had two stints at Barça. The first was from 2008 to 2016, winning 23 titles, including two trebles, as he reminded in his social network post: "It's been 23 títles, two trebles, a sextuple, and a big book of golden stories!".
He added: "It's been more than eight years dedicated to this Club, these colours, and this home. However, as with everything in life, the years go by, paths diverge, and the stories are written somewhere else at another time".
The second stint began in November 2021, although he couldn't debut again until January 2022. He didn't add to his title haul during the period, but he did play 17 games (1391 minutes), scoring a goal against Atletico Madrid, as well as providing four assists.
