A new target for Memphis
Memphis wants to continue making history for the Netherlands. After scoring a brace against Belgium, he has moved up to third in the list of all-time goalscorers for his country, and today Wednesday he will be looking to climb another position.
Just one goal and he will match Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on 42 goals, having already left in his wake such Dutch legends as Kluivert (40), Cruyff (33), Van Nistelrooy (35) and Bergkamp (37).
And it is by no means unthinkable that he could soon become Holland’s top scorer of all time, for the 50 goals netted by Robin van Persie are well within his sights.
More Nations League
Tonight at 8.45pm CEST, Holland are in Cardiff, where fans are buzzing after Wales qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1958. Managed by former Barça boss Louis Van Gaal and with Frenkie de Jong also in the squad, the Dutch are looking to make it six out of six in their first two games in the UEFA Nations League. Wales, albeit with a side made up almost exclusively of reserves with their playoff with Ukraine in mind, lost their opening fixture 2-1 in Poland
