Barça 3–5 Reus Deportiu Virginias: Defeat in first game of semi-final play off
Bad luck and a stellar display from Reus keeper Marc Zapater combined to condemn Barça to defeat in the first game of their Parlem OK league semi-final play off. The blaugranes now have their sights set on the second game of the play off against Reus which will come on Monday at the Palau Blaugrana.
To and fro
The two teams exchanged blows in the early stages of the game. João Rodrigues put Barça ahead but goals from Gelmà and Julià turned the game in Reus' favour.
Nevertheless, Edu Castro's team were able to turn things around when Sergi Llorca and Helder Nunes from the spot. Reus scored twice more before the break through Campagno and Gelmà with keeper Zapater saving a penalty from João to maintain their 4-3 lead at half time.
In the second half Zapater continued to keep his side in the game with a series of impressive stages. Reus added another in the 32nd minute from Marc Julià to complete their victory as thoughts now turn to game two on Monday at the Palau Blaugrana.
