Barça Women 5-1 Wolfsburg: History again
Just 23 days after the record attendance against Real Madrid, the Barça fans and women's football team did it again with 91,648 fans turning up to see the blaugranes win 5-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi final against Wolfsburg, another world best for women's football.
The record crowd was matched by a world class performance from Barça Women with goals from Aitana, Graham Hansen, Hermoso and a brace from Alexia Putellas giving them a handsome lead in the tie against the German side.
The party starts early
In front of a packed Camp Nou, the contest could not have started better for Jonatan Giráldez's team with Aitana Bonmatí putting them ahead in just the third minute of the contest.
The multitude inside the ground did not have to wait long to celebrate another when on 10 minutes Caroline Graham-Hansen waltzed through to the German defence to score a wonderful solo goal to make it 2-0 to Barça.
The dream start continued with the fans still rubbing their eyes in disbelief. On 33 minutes Jennifer Hermoso brought the supporters off their seats with an unstoppable finish to make it 3-0. Alexia wanted in on the action and added a fourth some seven minutes before half time.
First leg healthy advantage
Despite their four goal lead, Barça continued to enthral with their stylish football that has won over the world. Crnogorcevic had a goal ruled out after yet another fluent passing move by just centimetres for offside.
The intensity inevitably dipped given the blaugranes' dominance and Wolfsburg on the counter attack pulled via Roord in the 73rd minute after a long VAR review.
More good news came for Barça with Oshoala returning after months out and Jonatan Giráldez's team rounded off the win with an 85th minute penalty from Alexia Putellas. A 5-1 first leg advantage and a world record attendance mean another historic day for Barça Women. .
