Pedri says being relaxed 'comes from my family'
Relaxed, modest and honest - Barça midfielder Pedri appeared before the press whilst on international duty with the Spain squad and answered questions on his role at Barça amongst other topics.
"I don't train being relaxed. My family have always helped me with that and I am really grateful to them for that. They have prepared me really well," said the blaugrana.
Former Barça player and coach and now Spain manager Luis Enrique also appeared before the media prior to Spain's friendly against Iceland and he could not have agreed more with the teenager. "He is surrounded by a great family with good values and I know he has the mentality to improve in attack and in defence," said the Spanish coach.
Barça was a recurring topic in the press conference in La Coruña in north west Spain. "I am aware of the importance I have at Barça and I can deal with it calmly. The team is more important than the player," said Pedri. Comparisons with a previous Spain and Barça legend do not faze the youngster: "It's flattering to be compared to your hero because you are doing things right. Iniesta was crazy brilliant and I take it as motivation."
The Pedri-Gavi tandem
Andrés Iniesta formed a legendary partnership on the field with Xavi Hernández, current Barça boss. Now Barça have Pedri and Gavi. "Let's hope we can be a duo like Xavi and Iniesta but it will tough to repeat what they did," said Pedri before describing his relationship with his fellow teenage midfielder. "I have a special relationship with him and I really appreciate him, he has great potential," he concluded.
