FC Barcelona's excellent stats from 2022
FC Barcelona are in great form at the moment. Xavi Hernández's team are playing good football and the results in recent weeks have been excellent, following up the improvement shown in 2022. Now the blaugranes are within striking distance of second place with a game in hand in La Liga.
The next challenge in the league comes against the side who currently occupy second place, Sevilla. The only two unbeaten sides since the turn of the year in La Liga meet at Camp Nou on Sunday 3 April at 9pm CEST.
26 from 30 in La Liga
Focusing on La Liga the blaugranes have taken 26 of 30 points possible in the last 10 games. Barça are the best team in La Liga in 2022 with Atlético Madrid having taken 25 points and Villarreal and Real Madrid. In Europe's top five leagues only Premier League club Liverpool have picked more points in 2022 with 28.
Eight wins and two draws in those 10 matches have allowed Barça to take their total to 54 points and climb up to third place in the table. Barça have scored 27 goals in those 10 matches, conceding just seven and keeping a clean sheet on four occasions.
More goals
In the first part of the season Barça had problems finding the net but the arrivals of Aubameyang and Ferran Torres in the January transfer market have helped reverse that trend. The Gabon striker has nine goals in all competitions and Ferran Torres six and in the league they have seven and four since the turn of the year, ahead of any other player in La Liga.
Dembélé has also come into form and he has seven assists in 2022, more than anyone else in Europe's top five leagues.
Unbeaten in the Europa League
Barça are also unbeaten in the Europa League after drawing at home against both Napoli in their play off and Galatasary in the last 16. Those first legs were followed by excellent away wins in both ties which have handed the blaugranes a tie against Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter finals.
The only blots on Barça's copybook are the 3-2 defeat in the Copa del Rey in San Mamés against Athletic Club de Bilbao and another 3-2 loss against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi final. The blaugranes gave everything in the defeats which both went to extra time.
That, however, is history now and all eyes are now on the game against Sevilla to see if Barça can stretch their unbeaten run in 2022 to 13 matches.
