Men and women's teams to celebrate Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year celebrations are already a tradition at FC Barcelona, with a number of actions. As well as special video to welcome in the Year of the Tiger, the men’s and women’s teams have a number of other things prepared for their games with Atlético Madrid and Éibar this weekend.
For Sunday’s 4.15pm CET kick-off at Camp Nou, the team will be coming out in special shirts with Chinese characters and a special Year of the Tiger themed emblem on the sleeve. They will be posing for a photo with a commemorative banner and the centre circle, LED screens and other points of the stadium will also bear special messages.
The women will be wearing similar shirts before their Sunday noon fixture against Eibar, and the Estadi Johan Cruyff will also be decorated with a number of mentions of Lunar New Year.
Huge following in East Asia
This is all part of FC Barcelona’s wish to send greetings to their many fans in China, and other Asian countries that share in these festivities.
Since opening its offices in Hong Kong in 2013, the club has been intensifying its close relations with in the Asia Pacific region and helping to spread passion for football there, adapting its messages to the channels, formats and languages of the local cultures.
Such intentions have been reflected by various recognitions in recent years, such as being named Best Online Club in China for two consecutive years, 2020 and 2021 by the prestigious sports marketing agency Mailman.
