Sergiño Dest wins USMNT goal of the year
A stunning strike from Sergiño Dest in the US national men's team's 2-1 win over Costa Rica has been voted best of 2021 by fans of the USMNT. The Barça defender's strike in the victory in World Cup qualifying in October was the most popular of six goals on the shortlist in the poll conducted by the US Soccer Federation via social networks.
A step closer to qualification
The Dutch born US international's left footed effort in the first half made it 1-1 against Costa Rica with the USA going on to record an important victory in the lower.com field stadium in Columbus, Ohio with Dest and his team mates well placed in CONCACAF qualifying to clinch a place in World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Despite being just 21 years of age, Dest has already made 15 appearances, scoring two goals for the USMNT. The defender joined Barça from Ajax in October 2020 and under coaches Ronald Koeman and Xavi Hernández he has made 57 appearances as a blaugrana, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
