Memphis does it again!
Against Villarreal, Memphis scored in his fourth league game in a row. He now has eight in total, making him second top goalscorer in the championship, topped only by Karim Benzema.
His exquisite control, followed by the coolest of dribbles to beat the keeper and slot the ball home came at a high pressure moment. The teams were tied and there were just two minutes left on the clock… But he did it!
“It’s the kind of action that a striker has to generate and score” said the Netherlander after the game.
Not only does he score, but he scores goals that matter: the equaliser against Alavés, the deciders against Espanyol and Villarreal. He scores goals and also earns points.
"I’m happy, but I’ll keep working hard to help the team” he added. He showed that spirit on Saturday, for although he has become Barça’s regular penalty taker this season, he passed up on the opportunity to give his team-mate Philippe Coutinho a boost.
“We all need to be heading in the same direction” he concluded. “We need to keep everyone happy.”
