Sergi Roberto, Eric Garcia, Sergio Busquets and Gavi in the Spain squad
Four FC Barcelona players are in the Spanish squad for the UEFA Nations League Final Four. Luis Enrique had already called up Eric Garcia, Sergio Busquets, and Gavi, the notable new addition to the squad, and on Sunday it was announced that as Brais Méndez is injured, Sergi Roberto will also be included as a replacement.
Curiously, Méndez of Celta was himself a late substitute for Barça's Pedri, who had to withdraw through injury.
Luis Enrique's team will play the semi-finals of the Final Four on 6 October against Italy, with the winners progressing to the Nations League final to play against either Belgium or France on Sunday 10 October.
Meanwhile, Nico González is in Spain's U21 squad that has European qualifiers against Slovakia on October 8 and Northern Ireland on October 12.
Gavi, a potential record-breaker
Aged only 17 years and 56 days old, Barca's Gavi has been called up to the Asturian coach's squad and is potentially in line to make his debut. This would make him the youngest ever player for Spain, beating the current record holder, Ángel Zubieta (17 years and 284 days old). Let's not forget that Ansu Fati was the second youngest player to make his debut when he was 17 years and 308 days old.
Gavi continues his meteoric rise, having already played and impressed in six first team games this season - four in La Liga and two in the Champions League - even though he is still officially a second year youth player.
