Ronald Araujo says Barça want to challenge for 'everything'

The Uruguayan defender speaks to the press ahead of the trip to Benfica in the Champions League

On Wednesday in the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon FC Barcelona face a crucial Champions League game against Benfica as they look to record their first points of the group stage on Match Day 2.

"Tomorrow will be a great game against Benfica and we hope to be at our best," said Ronald Araujo who appeared in a press conference alongside his coach Ronald Koeman on Tuesday ahead of the trip to Portugal. The Uruguayan defender admitted that it is a "vital game against a great team" but Barça "are going there to win."

"We are in good shape and we are coming off the back of a good performance and that's the road to follow. We need to go for the three points," he continued.

On the important win at home to Levante on Sunday at Camp Nou Araujo said: "Getting points in the league is really important. We played really well and that was key. Now we have a week with two key games against Benfica and Atlético and that is motivating. We have a great squad with great players and we have to go for everything.

"Barça want to win it all and we have to fight for the biggest prizes. We can't just wait to see what happens, we have to go out to win and challenge the biggest teams."

On his own personal form Araujo was clear. "I am happy with the start I have made to the season. I prepared well to avoid the injuries of last season and I have worked hard to get here. I know the responsibility it brings playing for this club," explained the Uruguayan.

Finally, the defender turned to the image of the players celebrating with Ansu Fati after the latter's goal against Levante at Camp Nou. "The celebration was unplanned. I am really happy that he is back but we know what happened and it needed patience and hard work. I am happy that he is happy but this is just the beginning, we can't rush things," concluded Araujo.
