Alexia to stay until 2024
FC Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has renewed her contract with the women’s team until 30 June 2024. In theory, she was leaving the club at the end of the season, but after putting pen to paper in the company of president Joan Laporta, she is now officially staying for two more.
The 27-year-old, the first woman to score a goal at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, as well as at the Camp Nou in the modern era, has the fourth most appearances (352) and the second most goals (145) in Barça history. Her leading role in winning the treble last season was recognised with the European Player of the Year award.
Alexia Putellas quotes
"I feel so happy. It’s an exciting day for me. I feel physically and mentally fit, and ready to work hard for the team, giving my very best to this club and trying to help the best club in the world even better.”
“A new season brings new challenges. I am full of energy and ready to work with my team-mates ion continuing down the same path.”
