Barça dominate the UEFA women's awards

All five prizes are collected by blaugrana players: Paños (goalkeeper), Paredes (defender), Alexia (midfielder and overall player) and Hermoso (forward), and Lluis Cortés scoops the award for best coach

The UEFA gala has been an extraordinary one for the Barça Women. They have scooped all the big awards following a spectacular treble-winning campaign.

Alexia Putellas was not only named best midfielder, but also collected the biggest prize of all, that for Player of the Year. She has been simply outstanding all season, even scoring 18 goals in the league and two more in Europe despite that not being her primary responsibility.

But the podium was entirely blaugrana, with Jennifer Hermoso and Lieke Martens taking second and third.

Barça also dominated the positional awards. Sandra Paños was named best goalkeeper after conceding just five goals in Barça’s run to the European title, and keeping three clean sheets.

Irene Paredes was best defender, for her performances at PSG although she has since signed for Barcelona.

And Jennifer Hermoso is the best striker after topping the charts in Spain with 31 goals, and also scoring six in the seven Champions League games she featured in.

Not only that, but Lluís Cortés was honoured with the Women's Coach of the Year to complete a total and utter full house for FC Barcelona.
