Jordi Escobar arrives on loan to Barça B
FC Barcelona and UD Almeria have reached an agreement for the loan of Jordi Escobar in the 2021/22 season, with Barça getting an option to buy the player at the end of the campaign.
Escobar passed his medicals at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Monday morning and pout pen to paper at the club offices in the afternoon, where he was joined by president Joan Laporta, the vice-president for sport Rafael Yuste, the director responsible for youth football Joan Soler, the president of Barça B Jordi Casals and the director of youth football José Ramón Alexanco.
Goalscoring instinct
Jordi Escobar, born in Sant Cebrià de Vilalta, Catalonia on 10 February 2002, joined Barça as an U10 before switching to neighbouring Espanyol and spending a short spell at Fundació Calella. As an U14 he joined Valencia and rose through the ranks to make his debut with the senior team. Last summer, as an 18-year-old, he signed for Almeria.
A well-built player with a good touch and the ability to score goals has played at U17 and U18 level for Spain. Now under Sergi Barjuan at Barça B he says he is here “to score as many goals as possible and to my bit for the team.”
