Laporta's message to the squad

The FC Barcelona president, together with first vice president Rafael Yuste, visits the Ciutat Esportiva on the day the squad return to training

The FC Barcelona first team began training on Monday for the 2021/22 season after having undergone medical and health testing at the weekend. Barça President Joan Laporta decided to pay the first team a visit at the Ciutat Esportiva.

Laporta, accompanied by first vice president Rafael Yuste, as well as Enric Masip and Mateu Alemany, said a few words to the players present as preseason got under way. "We would like you to be professionals, with a winning mentality and with team spirit. Barça has to compete to win, but obviously always in a sporting way. I wish you all the best for the season," said the president.

First session of preseason

Prior to the visit of the president, the first team set about their first training session of the season on Pitch 2 at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The first test of preseason will come in just over a week's time on Wednesday 21 July against Gimnàstic de Tarragona at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (kick off, 7pm CEST). On Saturday 24 July they will then take on Girona also at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (kick off, 7pm CEST). Both games can be seen live all over the world on the Club's digital streaming platform, Barça TV+.
