Carlos Ortiz has signed a one-year contract with FC Barcelona through to 30 June de 2022, after a year in France with ACCS Paris, with whom he won the domestic championship.
Born in Madrid on 3 October 1983, he is best known for his 12 seasons at Movistar Inter from 2008 to 2020, with whom he won three Champions Leagues and six Spanish championships. He holds the record number of international caps for Spain, 195, with whom he has been a European champion on four occasions.
Ortiz says that “I honestly wasn’t expecting this. I never thought I’d get to enjoy this experience, but that’s how things have panned out and I’m really looking forward to playing in the Spanish league again with fresh legs after my year in France.”
"Physically and mentally I’m still fine and looking forward to what will be a strange year because of the World Cup and starting to compete with hardly any preseason. But Barça has a very consolidated team, and I hope to be able to add my experience and knowledge to help this team win trophies. I’m not lacking in enthusiasm or ambition.”
