Agreement for Higgins to stay until 2024
Barça and Courdon Dennard Higgins have reached an agreement on a new contract for the next three seasons through to 30 June 2024. The 32-year-old American guard is currently one of the best performing players in the EuroLeague.
Colorado graduate Cory Higgins came to Barcelona from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2019 and although he didn’t win any major trophies in his first year at the Palau Blaugrana, he impressed with his 12.4 points a game in Europe and 11 points in the Liga Endesa.
Splendid season
But in the current 2020/21 season, Higgins has played a key role in the double winning campaign, being named MVP of the Copa del Rey where he averaged 19 points, although this was just a taste of what was to come.
He was one of the standout performers in the EuroLeague playoff against Zenit with 14.8 points a game. He scored the decisive basket to defeat Milan in the Final Four semi-finals and led the blaugrana scoring in the final against Anadolu Efes with 23.
Always decisive
In the Liga Endesa final, he was awesome in the first win against Real Madrid, scoring a massive 26 points (14 in the third period alone) and he and Mirotic particularly led the side to overall victory in the series.
Now he is confirmed as staying until 2024, Barça fans are guaranteed a few more seasons of the ‘Silent Assassin’ at the Palau Blaugrana.
