FC Barcelona opts not to exercise the option to extend the player's contract

FC Barcelona has opted not to exercise the option to extend the contract of Juan Miranda, who shall remain at Real Betis Balompié, where he played last season on loan. FC Barcelona retains 40% of the rights to any future sale, and a right to first refusal on resigning him.

Miranda came to Barça in 2014 as an U16 player from Betis. He rose up through the youth ranks and even got called up for, and played for, the senior team in 2018/19.

He made his debut on 31 October 2018 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey tie with Cultural Leonesa. Miranda also played in the UEFA Champions League against Tottenham and was in the squad for four Liga fixtures.

In 2019/20, Miranda went on loan to Schalke 04, where he played eleven games in the Bundesliga. In 2020/21, he has been on loan to Betis, applying 22 games, scoring one goal and giving two assists.
