Madrid CFF 0-4 FC Barcelona Women: One step closer

The Catalans qualified for the final, which will be played on Sunday, after a dominant victory

From the very first second, Lluís Cortés' side dominated possession and the game as a whole. Mariona, omnipresent throughout the game, hit the crossbar in the early stages, whilst Alexia was very active in attack and it was she who opened the scoring on the quarter hour.

Madrid were limited in attack because they spent the majority of the time having to defend wave after wave of Barça attacks. Mariona, Bruna and Martens all came close to extending the lead in the first 45 but were denied by Paula Ulloa.

One-sided

After the break, Bruna, Mariona and Alexia, with three goals in six minutes, put the game to bed with 20 minutes still to play. The game was so one-sided that it turned into something of an exhibition before the end, even though no further goals were scored.

Barça's win means that they will play the Copa de la Reina final on Sunday, May 30 at 8.00pm CEST. It will be their chance for a treble, given that the Women's Champions League and Iberdrola League titles have already been secured.
