Messi reaches 20 league goals for the 13th season in a row
It simply never ends with Leo Messi. On Monday against Huesca he made his 767th appearance in a Barça shirt, equalling the Club record held by Xavi Hernández and also broke the 20 goal barrier in the league for the 13th season in a row with his two efforts in the 4-1 victory.
The goals against the Aragonese club were Messi's 20th and 21st of the season in La Liga, making him top scorer so far in the current campaign. Also, he has scored at least 20 goals in each of the last 13 seasons in the league, the only player to have ever achieved that feat.
In the 2007/08 season Messi scored 10 goals in the league but since 2008/09 he has always reached the 20 goal mark at least. His record is the stratospheric 50 goals he scored in the league in the 2011/12 campaign.
On fire in the league
In his last 15 league games, Messi has scored or assisted in 14 of them. In those 15 games he has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists. The Argentine has found the net in his last eight game in the league at Camp Nou, scoring 12 goals, his third best ever run.
27 goals in all
In the current campaign Messi has 27 goals in total: 21 in the league, five in the Champions League and one in the Copa del Rey. The best player in the world is still scoring like there is no tomorrow for yet another season.
