Barça look back on a year behind closed doors at the Camp nou in new documentary

‘Camp Nou, a year in silence’ is launched on Barça TV+ on March 23rd, and documents how members and players -including Clement Lenglet- experienced the past twelve months

This Sunday, March 14, marks one year since the announcement of the State of Alarm to address the spread of Covid-19 in Spain. In these twelve months, Barça fans have not been able to go to the Camp Nou to watch their team live. The club have put together the documentary 'Camp Nou, a year in silence’ production, made by Barça Studios, which will premiere on Tuesday March 23rd on Barça TV +,the Club’s streaming platform

Two days before the decree of the State of Alarm, LaLiga announced the suspension of two matchdays in a preventive manner, waiting to see how the situation evolved with the first positive cases in the country. These measures led to important changes for society, and in football resulted in the interruption of competitions at first, followed months later by the resumption of the season behind closed doors.

The documentary looks back on what this period has been like through the testimonies of first team player Clément Lenglet and four Barça members: Jaume Julià,  who has been a Barça member for the last 78 years and who witnessed the inauguration of the stadium in 1957; Marc Tarín, a 33-year-old healthcare professional and member since the age of 11; Marta Guarner, a pharmacist who has been enjoying matches at the Camp Nou for 25 years, and Alejandro Rodríguez, 29, a Barça fan for more than 20 years, who acknowledges that FC Barcelona is one of his passions.

In the documentary, which will be divided into two parts, the Barcelona fans talk about their experience of the State of Alarm, what Barça means to them and how they have dealt with not being able to go to the stadium in recentmonths.

Lenglet recalls, among other things, the meeting with his teammates in the dressing room, which took place on March 13th, 2020. On that day, given the situation, the first team suspended all its activity while waiting for the pandemic to evolve. The meeting was attended by Dr. Jaume Padrós, president of the Barcelona Medical Association and Head of Occupational Health at FC Barcelona, and Dr. Antoni Trilla, Head of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at Hospital Clínic.

The player also explains what the return to training was like, first being made individually then gradually allowing group sessions. He tells how he and his teammates experienced these moments of uncertainty. He also talks about what it is like for them to play matches without fans in attendance and how they miss their support from the stands, expressing the desire to be able to meet them again soon and his gratitude to them for sticking with the club in good and bad times.
