Messi's 30th La Liga goal against Sevilla
Sevilla have become the first opponent that Lionel Messi has scored 30 goals against in LaLiga. The Argentine notched another against his favourite victim on Saturday, the goals coming in just 29 games that Messi has played against them in the competition.
Of these 30, only one has been a penalty, and three from a direct free kick. Further, 26 have been scored with the left foot and four with the right.
38 goals in 42 games
In total, counting all competitions, Messi has scored 38 goals against Sevilla in 42 games: 30 in the League, two in the Copa del Rey, four in the Spanish Super Cup and two in the European Super Cup. Of these, 22 have been at the Camp Nou, 13 at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, two at the Boris Paichadze Stadium and one at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Bono is added to the list of Sevilla goalkeepers beaten by Messi, which is led by Andrés Palop (12) and completed by Beto (9), Sergio Rico (7), Vaclik (5), Javi Varas (2), David Soria (1) and Juan Soriano (1). It is the 15th consecutive season in which the Argentine has scored against the Andalusians, beginning in the 2006/07 campaign.
Sevilla, the favourite victim
Messi's 30 goals against Sevilla in La Liga, are followed by 26 against Atlético Madrid, Valencia (25) and Osasuna (23). In all competitions, Sevilla are again his favourite victim (38 goals), followed by Atlético Madrid (32), Valencia (29), Athletic Club (27) and Real Madrid (26).
Pichichi and top scorer of 2021
With Saturday's goal, Barça's No.10 further strengthened his grip on the Pichichi with 19 goals. Luis Suárez remains his closest competitor for the award with 16, followed by Gerard Moreno (14) and En-Nesyri (13). Messi also, has 14 goals in 2021, and is the top scorer of the year in the main European leagues, tied with Lewandowski (14) and ahead of Halaand and André Silva (10).
