Griezmann: Goals that count
Antoine Griezmann has reached a quarter of a century of goals for Barça. But perhaps more importantly, they’re goals that matter. Fifteen of the 25 have been goals that have given the team the lead, the latest example being the one scored by Le Petit Prince to earn three points against Athletic Club on Sunday.
25 goals
After joining the club in the summer of 2019, Griezmann’s first two goals came in a 5-2 win against Betis. He’s gone on to also score against Villarreal, Getafe, Granada, Real Sociedad (his former club), Eibar, Atlético Madrid (his other former club), Osasuna, Mallorca, Leganés, Alavés, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Dinamo Kyiv, Ibiza and Ferencváros.
It makes him Barça’s third highest scoring Frenchman ever, topped only by Henry (49) and Giuly (25).
In form
Griezmann has been involved in eight goals in his last nine games:
- Athletic 2 - Barça 3. Assist for Messi.
- Granada 0 - Barça 4. Brace and assist for Messi.
