Leo Messi to miss Elche game
The Spanish FA have turned down the Club's appeal against the Argentine's two game ban so the striker misses Sunday's fixture
The Spanish FA have turned down FC Barcelona's appeal against Leo Messi's two match ban following his first ever red card in a Barça shirt against Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup final. As a result the Argentine will serve the second game of the suspension on Sunday in the La Liga away fixture at Elche.
The Argentine is currently level with leader former Barça striker Luis Suárez in the race to be pichichi in La Liga with 11 goals. This season Messi has already moved past Pelé as the record goalscorer with a single club, been selected in the 2020 UEFA team of the year and reached 500 games in the league in a Barça shirt.
