Barça 2-1 Jaén: Copa del Rey champions!
Barça are champions of the 19/20 Copa del Rey! Andreu Plaza's team prevailed against Jaén in the final of the competition and add a seventh crown to their record. The Andalusian team were combative and difficult opponents, but Esquerdinha's double was decisive.
This was a very important title for Barça in a final that had to be postponed until this weekend due to the pandemic, and which means Barça end the 2019/20 season with four titles.
Fast start
After a start in which both Mithyue and Esquerdinha hit the post, Barça put their foot on the accelerator and went close through Ferrao, Adolfo, Dyego and Marcenio.
However, Marcao's long roll out found Alan Brandi, and he controlled the ball before firing past Dídac to open the scoring (0-1, min 14). Fortunately for Barça, just 15 seconds later, Esquerdinha drew them level (1-1, min 14).
Barça deserve the win
A double chance from Ximbinha and Lozano and shots from Daniel and Dyego were repelled before the break, and despite a spectacular start to the second half by Barça, they couldn't find a goal.
Well into the second half, Esquerdinha, with a sumptuous left-footed volley, was able to break the Andalusian's resistance (2-1, min 28).
Thereafter, Barça were been able to maintain the lead, even when Jaén played with a goalkeeper-player in the final stretch.
