Sergio proud to hit 'historic figure'
The win against Real Sociedad was a special one for Sergio Busquets. It was his 594th for Barça, placing him fourth in the list of all-time appearances for the club, moving him ahead of Carles Puyol and with only three other players ahead of him, namely Andrés Iniesta (674), Leo Messi (747) and Xavi Hernández (767).
“It’s a very special figure” says the second captain of the senior team. “I have been a Barça man all my life and this is the best club in the whole world. I am so proud to see my name up there alongside the likes of Puyol, Iniesta, Messi and Xavi. This is recognition of all the years that I have been here, and all the hard work I have done. This is something that goes down in history. I’m very happy.”
He was on for 67 minutes of the game with Real Sociedad, as ever playing a key role in the centre of midfield.
Trophies galore
Sergio Busquets has been in the senior squad for 13 seasons, winning everything, including three Champions League, eight leagues and six cups.
He has scored 15 goals and given 30 assists.
