Koeman's quartet of goals against Cadiz
Cadiz are next up for FC Barcelona in their LaLiga campaign, as the two sides face off on Matchday 12. The encounter takes place on Saturday at 9pm CET, and is a reunion of sorts for coach Ronald Koeman. During his playing days, he had an impressive scoring record against the Andalusian side, finding the net on four occasions.
Koeman's goals against Cadiz were spread across four games: Barça vs. Cádiz and Cádiz vs. Barça (1989/90); Barça vs. Cádiz (1991/92) and Barça vs. Cádiz (1992/93). All of the matches took place in LaLiga.
2005/06 the most recent precedent
FC Barcelona and Cadiz' paths have not crossed since the 2005/06 season, the most recent campaign for the latter side in the Spanish top tier. That season, a Barça side coached by Frank Rijkaard won 1-3 at the Ramon de Carranza thanks to a goal from Ludovic Giuly and a brace from Samuel Eto'o. Leo Messi would play 81 minutes in the game.
In that year's contest at the Camp Nou, Ronaldinho ensured the three points stayed in Catalonia with the only goal in a 1-0 victory. Almost 15 year on from the last time they squared off, Barça and Cadiz share a pitch once more this weekend.
