Konrad the latest international from La Masia
The latest round of international fixtures has thus far featured the involvement of a protagonist brought up through the ranks at La Masia. Young FC Barcelona talent Konrad De La Fuente debuted for the United States on Thursday, playing 71 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Wales.
The 19 year old represented his country in the friendly game, and also shared a pitch with friend and Barça teammate Sergiño Dest. The summer signing, who played 87 minutes in a starting role, had already made his first appearance for the USMNT.
With the unfortunate long term injury suffered by Ansu Fati, De La Fuente could be used by coach Ronald Koeman as an option in the first team attack in future games.
Ansu Fati was previously the most recent Barça player to debut for his country, featuring for Spain back in September against Germany. He did so at the age of 17 years and 308 days, making him the second youngest debutant in national team history.
