‘100x100 Tito’ documentary to be previewed at Zoom Festival

The Zoom Festival Internacional de Continguts Audiovisuals de Catalunya has chosen the 100x100 Tito documentary produced by Barça Studios as the movie that will open its 18^th edition. The film is a candidate for the Sports award at the festival being held in Igualada from November 24 to 29. 

100x100 Tito is a story of determination in the face of adversity that depicts the 2012/13 season, one of the saddest in club history. Although Barça won the league with its record number of points (100), coach Tito Vilanova had to step down from his position due to cancer. This intimate look at his farewell is shown through the eyes of the people who were there at the time: players like Leo Messi, Gerard Piqué, Cesc Fàbregas, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta and Thierry Henry, as well as FC Barcelona board members, friends and family, who are speaking in public for the first time since Tito’s death. 

The documentary crew travelled to New York, where Tito underwent surgery and treatment; to Andorra, where his son Adrià is now playing; to l’Escala and Bellcaire d’Empordà, where his parents now live; and even to the ward at Hospital Quirón, Barcelona, where he spent his final days accompanied by his nearest and dearest.

Opening session and contest

The documentary can be seen for the very first time on November 24 at 8.00pm in the Cinema Ateneu, Igualada as part of the opening session of the Zoom Festival, for which entrance is limited this year due to the pandemic. The documentary will be screened following an introduction featuring his friends and colleagues Jordi Roura and Aureli Altimira, who will be looking back at the life of the emblematic coach. The head of Barça Studios, Paco Latorre, and the directors of the documentary, Cristina Collado and Marta Busquets, will also be attending.

100x100 Tito is one of 44 audiovisual productions in the Official Section of the event and is a candidate for the Sports award, which also features other sports-themed items like other documentaries, TV shows, news programmes and sports broadcasts. 

After this exclusive preview, 100x100 Tito will be released worldwide on the club’s OTT, the subscription streaming service Barça TV+, and will also be broadcast for local audiences on TV3 and Barça TV. 

Zoom Festival, commitment to the audiovisual industry 

The Zoom Festival was created in Igualada in 2003 and was the first such event in Spain dedicated to made-for-TV cinema. Organised by Ateneu Igualadí, it reinvented itself in 2019 and extended entry to its Official Section to formats and contents other than fiction (documentaries, cultural programmes, sports and news). 

The festival also presents awards to audiovisual content made on social networks and this year has added a category for products made during lockdown and that are gathered on social networks using the hashtag #ZoomdesdeCasa.
