Tusquets promises elections as soon as possible

The President of the Managing Commission, Carles Tusquets, and the Members Ombudsman, Joan Manuel Trayter, addressed the media on Friday to explain the functions of the body that will be leading FC Barcelona until a new president is elected, which the club statutes state must be done within a maximum of three months.

“The main role for the Managing Committee will be to call elections as quickly as possible and that is what we will do” said Carles Tusquets. “We want the next Board to receive as much support as possible and that involves ensuring the best turnout as possible.”

Tusquets also commented that “the current economic climate is our biggest short-term concern. It is not a comfortable situation and we shall try to address as much as we can during our months in charge.”

Members Ombudsman Joan Manuel Trayter reiterated that “we are in difficult situation, on top of the pandemic situation, but the club will continue to operate in proper fashion. The win in Turin will help to restore some kind of stability.”

The Managing Committee will be performing the governance, administration and representation functions that the Board would normally be in charge of, but this is limited to necessary, essential actions to ensure that the club can keep acting normally, and to protect its interests.

“La tasca principal de la Comissió Gestora és convocar eleccions el més aviat possible i és el que farem”, ha declarat Carles Tusquets. I ha afegit: “Ho farem quan sigui possible. Volem que la propera Junta Directiva tingui el màxim recolzament possible i això passa per tenir la màxima participació possible”.

Tusquets també ha posat èmfasi en la delicada situació econòmica que està vivint el Club. “L’àmbit econòmic és el que més ens preocupa a curt termini. No és una situació comfortable i intentarem redreçar-la tot el que podem durant els mesos que estiguem com a gestors”, ha afirmat.

El Síndic dels Socis, Joan Manuel Trayter, ha enviat un missatge de tranquil·litat als socis i aficionats: “Estem en una situació difícil, combinada amb una situació de pandèmia, però el Club continuarà funcionant d’una manera molt correcta. La victòria del primer equip a Torí ja ens ajuda a tenir una certa estabilitat”.

Entre tots dos han explicat que, tal com preveuen els Estatuts, la Comissió Gestora ha d’exercir les funcions de govern, administració i representació que escauen a la Junta Directiva, però limitades als actes necessaris i imprescindibles per al manteniment de les activitats normals del Club i la protecció dels seus interessos. La funció principal de la Comissió Gestora serà la convocatòria d’eleccions per constituir una nova Junta Directiva, cosa que ha de fer en el termini de tres mesos des que els seus membres hagin pres possessió dels seus càrrecs.
