The launch of Barça eSports section in the Club’s website
In July, aligned with the announcement of the new eFootball PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE, FC Barcelona released a section on its website where fans are able to see the news and updates about KONAMI, eFootball PES 2021 and also features the professional eSport players and the competitions organized by the developer of the video game.
Barça eSports division
The Club’s new eSports division started one year ago, and as a key stone of this project the Club created its PES team, which this year ended up fourth in the official Konami eFootball Pro tournament and second in the eFootball Pro Cup, competing against the best clubs in Europe.
Barça also competes in Rocket League, where its team played the World Cup in New Jersey and this last season managed to be again among the four best teams in Europe, while Hearthstone team managed to keep the place in the highest European competition. In addition, at the end of July, Hearthstone's team grew into a total of three players to compete in the Gold Club World Cup, a Chinese online competition where only the best teams in the world meet.
Barça eSports division was born with the same ambition the Club has on the football pitch: to become a relevant actor in the eSports arena globally in the next few years, building a leading section that will help to connect with new audiences, especially in emerging football markets, and take the Barça brand to countries like the United States and China. However, the Club will stay true to Barça values and will only include non-violent games that are consistent with the brand and everything it represents, upholding gender equality and a major commitment to educating and training people and players.
