Deco foresees great future for Trincão at Barça
Francisco Trincão has arrived in Barcelona as what A Bola sports daily deems the ‘greatest goal creator’ in the Portuguese league, an honour awarded to the player who is felt to have had the greatest impact in opposition areas in terms of goals and assists. Somebody who was given that distinction no fewer than three times also has a Barça connection. Deco, winner of the 2006 Champions League in a blaugrana shirt, feels that “Trincão has it all to be a success at Barça”.
“He is a quality player with a great future ahead” he continues. “He’s a classic left-footed player that makes runs from the wings into the area. When he gets into the middle, he makes shooting look easy. He’s good in the one-on-one and has a fine shot. He’s a footballer who I personally like a lot.”
“Players that come to Barça are usually expected to produce immediate results, but that’s not always easy for a player as young as he is. If he gets playing time, then he will end up doing very well indeed.”
Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig
Deco, whose other clubs included Porto and Chelsea, also spoke about Barça’s pair of promising rising stars, Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig, saying “they are the kind of players that appear at Barça, where they do such a good job with their academy. They are two players with a strong head on them who are ready to develop and learn. If they stay humble and are hungry to win everything, then they could both be huge success stories at Barça.”
